HISTORY OF THE MOVEMENT
Rev. Fr lester(SJ) founded the knights of the blessed sacrament in 1915 to meet the world"s spiritual crisis by trying to deepen man"s union with God and pledging Love and loyality to our lord in the holy Eucharist.
Moved by the ideals of this movement in Europe and motivated by a strong desire to help to correct the moral laxity in our Christian homes. Bro. Joseph Nkechukwu I tabor (who is now a Fransican Friar) started the movement of the Pages of the blessed Sacrament in lagos on August 20th 1960.
NAME AND OBJECTIVES
The Name of the Movement is"The Pages of the Blessed Sacrament (PBS).
The Movement is an Association of Catholics who, with the blessing of the church, is devoted to adore, and love Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament and heed the Blessed Virgin Mary"s call at Fatima to pray and make sacrifices for offences committed against Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
It is responsible to the Holy Catholic Church for the propagation of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, evangelization and individual member"s spiritual growth and sanctification.
Meaning of a page: A page is a servant in a kings palace. Therefore, "Pages of the Blessed Sacrament" Means "Servants or soldiers of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament". This Cuts across all categories of persons.
PAGES" OBJECTIVES
1. To teach the youth of today how to lead good and happy Christian lives.
2. To make our blessed lord better known and loved in the Blessed Sacrament.
3. To inculcate into its members a life of prayer and reparation to our Eucharistic King .
Pages Motto: "To help people at all time for the love of God". This motto helps to instill in the minds of its members the importance of the corporal works of mercy and charity which characterized the Christians of old and which is basis of God"s love because God Himself is charity and the axis of perfection.
Pages" Maxim: Morality without education is better then education without morality.
Pages Greeting: The members of the pages greet one another thus: "Mary Help" and in response to that, one would say "Jesus is here" or Thanks be to God", depending on the place of the greeting. if members meet in the church or during Pages meeting the response is Jesus is here, but if they meet outside the church or in public places the response is "Thanks be to God".
OUR AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
The general aim of the movement is glory of God and the sanctification of members in Christ Jesus. The particular aims include:
* It teaches the member how to lead good and happy Christian lives.
*It teaches members to go out like chosen instruments to correct the moral decadence in the society by their own good example and deliberate action.
*It encourages reception of Holy Communion and proper understanding of God"s love and presence in the Blessed Sacrament. As well as frequent visit to the Blessed Sacrament.
*It encourages religious vocation.
*It prepares its members for reception of the Sacrament such as the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, Holy Order etc.
DUTIES OF MEMBERS
1. sign the pledge and enrolment form
2. strive to fulfil the pledge by personal holiness.
3 Endeavour to pay constant visit to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and offer sacrifices in reparation to the Sacred heart Of Jesus and immaculate Heart of Mary.
4. To Mary and promote Eucharistic reparation
5. To Regularly attend the prayer meeting for instructions as scheduled.
6. To help and encourage others to know, love and receive Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
7. To help visit poor, old and the sick and help them in any way.
8. To study and read more spiritual books on the church and lives of saints.
9. To help others known and follow the request of the Mother of God at Fatima
THE CRUSADERS" CODE.
× To receive Holy Communion at least once in a week other on Sundays
× To recite the MORNING OFFERING everyday.
× To show devotion to the Blessed Sacrament by visiting Churches to pray for a while , by some signs of reverence while passing.
× To make an ACT OF CONTRITION immediately and go to confession as soon as i can should I ever commit a Serious sin.
×To be a followers of our lord in every thought, word and Deed.
× To help spread our Lord"s kingdom and to be an apostle of his Truth, love and holiness.
× To wear aCBS badge as a sign of wanting to live as a Crusader of the Blessed sacrament.
